Manila, March 28, 2018   – The Migrants Program of Couples for Christ recently supported the national search for the 10th Gawad Anak OFW Ten Outstanding Sons and Daughters of OFW Student Achievers (TOSDOSA) Awards.

The TOSDOSA Awards is an annual event of CBCP’s Episcopal Commission for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerants (ECMI) which aims to give recognition for the scholastic achievements of children of OFWs. The awards ceremony, held at the National Commission for Culture and Arts in Intramuros, Manila was led by Bishop Ruperto Santos, Chairman of ECMI, Fr. Resty Ogsimer, ECMI Executive Secretary and Bro Edmund Ruga, ECMI Luzon Program Coordinator.  CFC’s Bro. Jess Ferrer MP National Program Coordinator, Bro. Ferdie Garcia of West B and Bro. Noel Flojo of West C organized our MP brethren for the hosting of finalists and their families from the Visayas provinces.

Together with other judges, CFC Migrants Program’s Bro. Tony Obien of Laguna and Sis. Ailene Pamintuan of Cavite spent the whole morning interviewing the finalists to determine this year’s winners.  CBCP ECMI’s Sis Edyzza Pumarada and CFC MP’s Bro Frankie Naranjilla of East A had a lot of fun hosting the afternoon’s awards ceremony. The event’s keynote speaker was Senator Cynthia Villar representing the Villar SIPAG Foundation, an avid supporter of the TOSDOSA awards for several years.

Rene Sandoval, a grade 10 student from Canossa Academy of Lipa, Batangas topped this year’s event for the high school category while Raphael John Dasalla a grade 6 student from  St. Mary’s University of Nueva Vizcaya topped the elementary category.

The other finalists represented schools from different parts of the country such as Angeles University Foundation Integrated School, University of Batangas, Caloocan National Science and Technology High School, St. Scholastica’s Academy of San Fernando Pampanga, Holy Family Academy of Angeles City, Angeles University Foundation, St. Teresa College of Batangas, St. Paul College of Makati, St. Mary’s University Nueva Vizcaya, Eastern Samar National Comprehensive High School,  Holy Family Academy of Angeles City, Malanday Elementary School,  Dela Salle Lipa, Our Lady of Casasay Academy Taal, Our Lady of Peace Antipolo.
