CBCP-ECMI Celebrates World Day of Migrants and Refugees and National Migrants Sunday

September 27,  was a fun-filled day as CBCP-ECMI mobilized the Dioceses in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao for a nation-wide celebration of the National Migrants Sunday (NMS).

For Mindanao there were two dioceses who became the center of celebration  Diocese of of Ipil,(Zamboanga Sibugay) and Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro who celebrated a livestream  mass .

In the Visayas the celebration was hosted by the Diocese of  Borongan with the participation of Bukluran Parish groups.   It was covered by the Voice of the World Media Network in different platforms as radio, t.v. and social media. The celebration was live with the participation of OFWs from different parts of the world via zoom.

Luzon on the one hand has several activities ranging from The NMS Challenge where a diocese is asked to come out with an advocacy and unity video in celebration of the National Migrants Sunday; A Photo Album Contest on the importance of meaningful and significant memories of NMS celebration in the past years to the present; A story, poem, essay writing contest on the Best NMS Experience, and lastly the highlight was capped by a concert dubbed as HIMNALANGIN.

The said concert was a tribute on the life and struggles of migrants and OFW families, spiced into songs , dances and narratives. Truly a fitting joyful celebration as different dioceses from Luzon participated, namely: Dioceses of Antipolo, Cubao,  Kalookan, Novaliches, Pasig, San Fernando Pampanga, La Union and Baguio .

(Note: CFC – MP Coordinators of Antipolo, Cubao, Novaliches and Pasig are also lay  coordinators and volunteers of these dioceses.)
