Last November 18, 2020, the Addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Couples for Christ Global Mission Foundation (CFCGMFI) and CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People (ECMI) was signed at Cathedral Café, Intramuros, Manila. Present during the signing were Fr. Resty Ogsimer, Executive Secretary of CBCP-ECMI, Bro. Bong Arjonillo, CFCGMFI Chairman, Bro. Boyet Rafael ANCOP Board Member, and Bro. Jess Ferrer CFC MP Program Head. an The addendum was based on Section 6 of the original MoU and focuses on the response to the plight of OFWs brought about by the Pandemic.
The addendum was based on Sections 3 and 6 of the aforementioned Memorandum of Understanding, to wit:
- Section No. 3 – “ECMI and CFC will complement each other on the values formation of migrant families through sharing and exchange of the existing modules.”
- Section No. 6 – “ECMI and CFC will coordinate and partner on whatever special projects, programs and activities for the migrant sector as the need arises”.
Both parties have agreed to jointly adopt the Tawid OFW Program (TOP) developed by Couples for Christ Migrants’ Program (CFC MP). In various meetings between CBCP ECMI and CFC MP, the Implementing Guidelines, process, and criteria for selection of beneficiaries for the TOP were already discussed and agreed upon.
With the signing of the Addendum, the agreement on the implementing guidelines, process, and criteria for the selection of beneficiaries, TOP is ready for roll-out for CBCP-ECMI beneficiaries. Initially, 100 OFWs families were allocated nationwide under this addendum.
